Part 3/3
The scented solutions can be a bit concentrated out of the bottle and do have a slight pine undertone to them. Great thing is that the solutions can be added to your own personal level and taste to the unit. I’m not a big fan of vanilla, but put in at the right amount and I had no troubles.
The 4 60 ml bottles of solutions that came with the unit lasted us a little more than a month. Homedics sell refills of the solutions packaged in 250 ml bottles that are currently selling for $14.99 each.
Operation of the Homedics Brethe
We found the unit effective at what is supposed to do. The unit does freshen the air with a nice scent and appears to do some level of air cleaning. You will notice the air cleaning effectiveness by the how the appearance of the water changes during use and water changes.
You’ll find that water needs to be changed daily, which is pretty easy to do and not the daily hassle I thought it would be. I keep mine next to our kitchen sink which really takes a lot of the hassle out! Maybe I would think a bit differently if I had to change the water by carrying the bowl across the house everyday?
I have left the unit run unchanged for up to three days and have noticed no negative side effects on the operation. What happens during such extended use is that the water starts to evaporate and the water level goes down until the unit is basically no longer spraying water. This does not appear to have resulted in in operational troubles and I hope Homedics had this in mind in its design.
Overall Comments
We like it, solid design, good solutions and effective. Our thoughts are that it’s going to make for nice Christmas Gifts this year for both friends and family!
